Austin Baking Co is seeking an experienced Baker to join our team at our Newstead production location. The successful applicant will be responsible for preparing producing baking decorating and finishing a variety of bread rolls pastries cakes and other flour-based products to meet daily production needs and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
The successful applicant will be required to:
Prepare and produce bread rolls pastries cakes and other flour-based products according to recipes production schedules and business standards.
Measure mix knead mould shape cut and prove doughs and mixtures using proper baking methods.
Operate commercial ovens mixers proofers dough sheeters moulders and other bakery equipment safely and efficiently.
Monitor baking times temperatures product colour texture size shape and overall quality.
Prepare fillings icings glazes toppings and decorations for pastry and cake products.
Decorate finish and present products in line with Austin Baking Cos quality and presentation requirements.
Assess the quality of raw ingredients and finished products to ensure freshness consistency and compliance with food safety standards.
Plan and organise daily production requirements in consultation with management to ensure products are made on time and in required quantities.
Maintain cleanliness and hygiene across all production areas equipment and storage spaces.
Store ingredients doughs mixtures and finished products correctly to maintain freshness and minimise wastage.
Assist with stock control ingredient rotation and ordering of supplies where required.
Support train and guide junior team members or assistants in baking techniques equipment use hygiene and workplace procedures.
Requirements
To be considered for this position applicants should have:
Relevant qualification in baking bread production pastry production patisserie commercial cookery food production or a related field; or equivalent practical experience.
Minimum 23 years of relevant experience in a commercial bakery or food production environment.
Strong experience in preparing doughs mixtures fillings toppings and finished flour-based products.
Sound knowledge of fermentation proving shaping baking cooling decorating and finishing techniques.
Experience working with commercial ovens mixers proofers dough sheeters and related equipment.
Ability to follow recipes production schedules hygiene procedures and quality control standards.
Understanding of food safety cleanliness and workplace health and safety requirements.
Ability to work early mornings weekends public holidays and flexible shifts as required.
Excellent time management attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
