Engineer Water & Environment
Job Summary
As a Flooding & Stormwater Engineer your impact will be within the QLD Stormwater and Flooding team. The team is a specialist group focusing on delivering solutions in the areas of Water Sensitive Urban Design (constructed waterbodies bioretention proprietary water quality devices etc.) hydrological investigations 1D hydraulic modelling and 2D regional flood modelling. This is an opportunity to work within a passionate and well-established team to deliver innovative solutions across a diverse portfolio of projects - locally and nationally!
You will be responsible for:
- Undertaking flood studies flood impact assessments and stormwater management plans.
- Development of hydraulic and hydrological models.
- Development of water balance and water quality treatment models
- Undertake civil engineering calculations to support the design of WSUD infrastructure.
- Preparation of GIS databases and maps (utilising QGIS ArcGIS or MapInfo).
- Preparation of erosion and sediment control plans.
Qualifications :
Ideally you will have a minimum of 2 years professional experience with demonstrated technical expertise in flooding and stormwater engineering within a consultancy environment.
You will also have:
- A tertiary degree in civil engineering or similar (essential).
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team with support from senior staff and colleagues.
- Experience working in a consulting environment highly desirable.
- Effective written and verbal communication; organisational and analytical skills.
- Experience in recording technical data and preparing reports.
- Experience in project management and maintaining project schedules.
- Experience in any of the following software will be considered favourably:
- Hydrology software such as WBNM URBS XP-RAFTS RORB
- Hydraulic software such as TUFLOW HEC-RAS.
- Water quality modelling software such as MUSIC.
