About the role
With more than 160 GW of new generation forecast to connect over the next 30 years this role places you at the centre of Australias clean energy transition. Youll help bring major projects to life across onshore and offshore wind solar hydro batteries storage and emerging hydrogen technologies.
Youll work closely with network service providers developers investors manufacturers technology innovators consultants Government agencies and regulatorskey players shaping the future energy system. Your work will involve leading power system modelling and analysis identifying system limitations and ensuring new generating plants meet operational requirements.
Collaboration will be essential as you partner with providers and OEMs to resolve generator model and power system issues while working across the business to understand how system constraints and operational needs influence new connections. A critical part of the role is communicating complex technical issues in clear accessible language that supports stakeholder decisionmaking.
This is a role where the impact of your work is visible. Youll visit the projects youve helped deliver build long-term relationships across the sector contribute to industry forums and working groups and mentor the next generation of specialists as you grow your own professional profile.
The positions can be based in Brisbane Melbourne Sydney and Adelaide.
What you will be doing
- Work collaboratively with network service providers connection applicants and OEMs to assess and negotiate performance standards and support commissioning activities.
- Undertake power system simulation and analysis to determine grid connection requirements for new largescale generators.
- Assess generator connection models reactive power plants and control systems to ensure compliance and robust performance.
- Interpret simulation outcomes draw evidencebased conclusions and provide clear technical recommendations.
- Communicate complex technical issues clearly and effectivelyboth in writing and verballyto technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
- Enhance AEMOs analysis and reporting methods manage multiple concurrent projects and actively build AEMOs reputation as a trusted partner across the energy sector.
What you will bring to the role
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline supporting power systems analysis.
- Proven experience leading or contributing to technical project teams delivering highquality outcomes with a pragmatic serviceoriented approach to problem solving.
- Demonstrated capability in generator connection processes including assessing and resolving generator and power system performance issues and understanding the technical commercial and reputational considerations involved.
- Strong understanding of the electricity industry including NEM operations generator behaviour network constraints and the technical issues impacting largescale infrastructure projects.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex engineering concepts into clear accessible language for nontechnical stakeholders.
