AEMOs Onboarding and Connections Group provides technical leadership and oversight for the connection and registration of new generating systems entering the National Electricity Market. As Australias power system evolves youll help support the integration of renewable generation storage and emerging technologies.

About the role
We are seeking an Engineer to join our Onboarding & Connections team on a 24-month fixed-term contract. This role offers an excellent opportunity to build experience across a broad range of connection projects while working alongside experienced engineers and industry specialists. Youll support technical assessments power system studies and stakeholder engagement activities that help facilitate successful connection outcomes.
Working closely with network businesses developers and internal technical teams youll contribute to solving engineering challenges associated with Australias energy transition while developing your expertise in generator and storage connections.
This position has arisen to support several leave coverage arrangements across the broader team and presents a unique opportunity to gain exposure across multiple areas within Connections. Working across different streams you will build broad technical experience contribute to a diverse portfolio of connection projects and collaborate with experienced engineers and specialists across the connection lifecycle.
This role can be based in Brisbane Sydney Melbourne Perth or Adelaide and offers flexible hybrid working arrangements.
What you will be doing
- Support technical assessments for generation and storage connection projects.
- Undertake power system modelling and analysis using PSSE and PSCAD.
- Assist with the review of generator inverter and control system models.
- Contribute to the assessment of performance standards and connection requirements.
- Work with internal and external stakeholders to support connection outcomes.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and technical knowledge sharing.
What you will bring to the role
Education
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering or other discipline relevant to power systems analysis.
Experience and Knowledge
- Experience or exposure to power system studies generator connections or power system analysis.
- Working knowledge of PSSE and/or PSCAD modelling tools.
- Understanding of power system operation and performance.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and contribute across multiple projects.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Knowledge of the National Electricity Market or a willingness to develop expertise in this area.
