The Opportunity
Our Port Kembla Manufacturing facility is looking for an Electrical Engineer in our Hot Mills Engineering Team based in Port Kembla. As a part of the broader Australian Steel Products portfolio we have six major manufacturing sites at Port Kembla that deliver a variety of products innovative solutions and services to our export and domestic customers.
Working as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team the role supports major projects within the Hot Mills Engineering department as well as day-to-day plant support delivering electrical design expertise and practical engineering solutions for equipment improvements process modifications and new installations.

What Will You Do
In this innovative and diverse role youll deliver high-quality solutions to enhance asset performance focusing on continuous improvement outcomes to drive better operational practices site development and safety outcomes. You will also:
- lead projects ranging from small upgrades to large-scale improvements as well as supporting our central engineering team for projects of strategic importance driving optimum equipment performance and reducing failures.
- assist with electrical engineering support as required to the day-to-day operations of the plant.
- provide technical direction and manage third party engineering consultants and drafting resources.
More About You
As a qualified Electrical Engineer you will possess sound technical and analytical knowledge as well as:
- degree qualifications in electrical engineering recognised in Australia
- experience with electrical engineering design and calculations within a heavy industry environment.
- experience in a technical engineering role encompassing management of customer interfaces design manufacture installation and commissioning of new equipment.
- knowledge in utilising engineering design tools such as Autodesk Autocad and Inventor.
- critical thinking and experience in engineering governance control
- experience with automation systems PLC HMI DCS & SCADA
- experience with low voltage distribution systems and motor controls
- experience with variable speed drives and closed-loop control systems
