Dive Instructor and Expedition Crew
Job Summary
The role of the Dive Instructor/Expedition Crew member is responsible for the safety of all diving operations and required to coordinate and take responsibly for the provision of a variety of dive opportunities appropriate to needs and abilities of all guests and crew.
What Youll Do
- Coordinate and take responsibility for Confined-Water Training for Introductory Dives for non-certified guests/crew
- Coordinate and take responsibility for Open-Water Dives for appropriately certified guests/crew
- Responsible for the care and maintenance of all diving equipment (including snorkelling gear) attending to any fault or problem quickly the Rigid Inflatable Boat and in association with the Engineer the compressor and air storage cylinders
- Responsible for water activities; in particular snorkelling and diving events
- Ensure the maintenance of equipment is performed and update equipment manual and log sheets etc
- Ensure that a complete and accurate stocktake of dive and snorkelling equipment is conducted at the end of each month including a condition report
- Responsible for conducting Snorkel Rescue Training to new crew members ensuring that this is achieved within their initial 90-day probationary period
- When required guiding and actively managing the guests Health and Safety
- Assist in the process of loading / disembarking the Xplorers and other ship tenders. Conduct pre-excursion risk assessment
- Understand and comply with regulatory restrictions and conditions for each site visited
- Provide accurate and comprehensive logistical and safety information to the guests and crew on each excursion. Keeping a constant vigil for the safety of all
- Actively promote passenger interaction
- Ensure proper conduct is exercised by guests and crew with regards to indigenous / historical sites beach collecting and wildlife in keeping with eco-tourism accreditation operational permits and concessions
- Work as part of the crew assisting with vessel turnaround including gangway watch duties
- Required to work as part of a high-performing team in the provision of the overall cruise experience
- Required to maintain the highest standards of behaviour discipline and dress appropriate to company policy and image at all times
- Follow all reasonable directions given by Manager or delegate
What Youll Bring
- Demonstrated experience within marine environments
- Securing the confidence and respect of guests
- Strong boat handling knowledge and experience preferred
- Previous experience working in remote locations
- Intermediate Microsoft Office skills (Word Excel PowerPoint and Outlook)
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Confident public speaker
- Guiding highly regarded
- Excellent customer service: professional demeanour ability to use necessary levels of tact and courtesy
- Ability to troubleshoot act quickly with confidence and make sound decisions while exercising good judgement
- Ability to work well under pressure
Qualifications Required:
- Degree in Natural Sciences or other (highly regarded)
- PADI Dive Instructor Qualification (min 2 years experience)
- First Aid & CPR.
- Passport.
Qualifications willing to obtain with us:
- AMSA endorsed Certificate of Safety Training (CoST).
- Crowd Control & Crisis Management.
- AMSA Medical.
- AMSA endorsed Marine Cook Certificate.
- Australian Seafarers book or other country equivalent discharge book.
- Drivers Licence (manual highly regarded)
- Vaccination Record Yellow Fever
- Remote First Aid & Advanced CPR
- Coxswains Certificate Grade 1 (AMSA endorsed)

Rosters will require a commitment of up to 6 weeks duration for domestic voyages and up to 8 weeks for international voyages.
