About the Position

The Director isresponsible for the delivery of strategic integrated communicationsacross media relations online and web services internalcommunications stakeholder engagement and specialised campaigncommunications. The role is also responsible for the delivery ofeducation and information resources to support new and existingusers of the Commission to understand and access our services andjurisdiction.

The Directorwill operate under broad direction and will draw on significantpublic sector knowledge and experience and will have asophisticated understanding of the Commissions strategic operatingenvironment. They will build and sustain relationships with anetwork of key people internally and coordinate and support ourstrategic engagement with external stakeholders including employerorganisations unions and the media. They will provide expertadvice make decisions based on professional judgement and havedemonstrated experience in achieving results and business processimprovement outcomes. The role will also support the ExecutiveDirector in meeting key business objectives and work to support thebranches overall strategic direction.

Duties

  • Lead the Commissions work to provide accessible consistent and accurate information resources to employees employers regulated workers and their representatives to ensure they can meaningfully engage with Commission services.
  • Guide develop and execute internal and external communications strategies and be responsible for management of the Commissions website and social media channels.
  • Produce monthly editions of the internal staffing update Commission Connect and provide expert communications support to the President General Manager and Senior Executive.
  • Oversee engagement with external stakeholders including small business (via the Commissions Small Business Reference Group) and community stakeholders and support Members with their external engagement activities.
  • Oversee the Commissions media relations including fostering relationships with key media outlets preparation of media releases managing responses to media queries media monitoring and briefing the Executive about emerging themes.
  • Oversee management of the Commissions Online Learning Portal including the development of new online learning resources and maintenance of our existing resources.
  • Implement strategic plans including the Commissions CALD community engagement strategy and education strategy.
  • Build team capabilities by providing leadership to team members including setting the strategic direction of work priorities and managing performance.
