Job Summary

Director level leadership role providing expertise in Civil Engineering for Transmission and Distribution (T&D) projects enhancing our technical reputation in the energy sector across Australia and New Zealand (ANZ).  You will be part of a passionate team proud to be supporting the energy transition through the design build and delivery of complex large high voltage and critical energy infrastructure projects from large transmission towers through to complex substations.

You will have the remit to lead the practice design and delivery teams developing cohesive design solutions and technical frameworks for a diverse range of civil engineering needs within the rapidly evolving energy sector for T&D projects.  You will be applying your problem-solving abilities working across disciplines as a subject matter leader for civil engineering requirements into large transmission towers and complex substation projects across geographies and locations.  This includes providing civil design expertise into site and roading access drainage and stormwater design geological and foundation requirements bulk earthworks trenching installation and services considerations site operation bunding and civil requirements for site buildings and transformers.  

You will be working with clients and internal teams to understand client and project needs while balancing engineering concepts and applying commercial judgement with the project economic technical site and design requirements.  How you work will be important with the role requiring collaboration across different engineering disciplines based locally across ANZ and globally.  Being able to work with others finding common ground with a client and project first approach will be important. You will also have scope to mentor coach and develop the next generation of civil engineers in the T&D discipline this may include people leadership responsibilities as the team grows.

How youll make a difference:

  • Provide technical leadership and solutions for client and project civil engineering queries into energy and power related infrastructure projects being the local go-to for technical assurance project verification and technical sign off requirements.
  • Support project delivery excellence across technical verification design governance risk management working within project commercial requirements.
  • Build client relationships as a trusted advisor including running workshops with client technical teams and external stakeholders and contractors.
  • Provide input into business development processes providing civil engineering related inputs and timeframes into proposals for T&D energy related projects.
  • Contribute technical expertise both throughout the AECOM Australia team as well as with global subject matter leaders.
  • Work with the current local team and manager to support technical learning mentoring and development of others and their technical abilities in the civil discipline as they relate to the project site and technical requirements for T&D energy projects.
  • Ensure delivery excellence and governance across all civil engineering related components for projects maintaining AECOMs high standards of quality safety digital innovation and client satisfaction.
  • Champion collaboration and operational efficiency by leveraging enterprise workshare implementing change initiatives and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.

 

 


Qualifications :

To be successful in this role you will be an experienced technical lead across civil engineering known for your design rigour across a broad range of civil engineering requirements your problem-solving ability and delivery of complex technical projects. Experience across energy related projects is required especially a track record of very diverse project types site requirements scale and geographies for the energy sector.

The qualities that help you thrive:

  • Recognised for your technical and project civil engineering expertise with 15 years of experience in Civil Engineering across power transmission and distribution substations or related energy infrastructure projects.
  • Proven ability to manage a variety of projects from concept to delivery ensuring technical excellence quality outcomes and client satisfaction throughout all project stages including brownfield site augmentations greenfield developments bulk earthworks grading access roads drainage and stormwater systems environmental controls and services coordination.
  • Registration on the National Engineering Register in Australia (such as RPEV or RPEQ) will be required ideally supported by a Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) designation or equivalent international accreditation.
  • Client relationship and interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain positive client relationships as a trusted advisor with internal and client technical teams.
  • Ability to provide commercial judgement and pragmatism understanding design build and operations cost considerations for clients such as optimising bulk earthworks and drainage considerations and identifying design efficiencies.
  • A passion for mentoring and the development of others civil engineering technical abilities helping the next generation of AECOM T&D engineers to build their careers.
