The Heritage NSW team is seeking to temporarily appoint a Director Assessments for up to 12 months to lead the delivery of expert heritage and Aboriginal cultural heritage assessments approvals and regulatory services across NSW. This executive leadership role plays a critical part in supporting the conservation management and activation of the states significant heritage assets.

As Director you will lead a specialist team responsible for development assessments permits regulatory advice and stakeholder engagement relating to heritage and Aboriginal cultural heritage matters. You will work closely with government agencies industry local councils Aboriginal communities the Heritage Council of NSW and the Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Advisory Committee to influence strategic outcomes drive continuous improvement and ensure best-practice heritage conservation across NSW.

About You

  • Extensive leadership experience in a related field with the ability to lead a complex regulatory function

  • Proven experience managing high-profile complex or sensitive matters and balancing competing stakeholder community and government priorities.

  • Strong strategic thinking and decision-making skills with the ability to provide expert advice on heritage policy assessment and conservation outcomes.

  • Highly developed stakeholder engagement negotiation and influencing skills with a track record of building productive relationships across government industry community and with the Aboriginal community.

  • A collaborative and values-driven leader with experience developing high-performing teams driving service improvements and delivering results in a complex operating environment

Essential Requirements

  • High level experience in a regulatory and/or policy environment

  • Drivers Licence and ability to travel as required
