Job Summary
Band 4 - base salary from $121188 per annum (plus super) - total package to be negotiated with successful candidate based on skills and experience
At TasNetworks we design and deliver the energy systems that power Tasmania safely reliably and sustainably. Were looking for a talented Designer Estimator to join our collaborative design team and help shape the future of our distribution network.
Youll be the main point of contact for customers needing design advice helping them understand their options and guiding them through the connection process. Your work will support the safe and efficient delivery of projects and ensure designs are completed to a high standard.
This role suits someone who enjoys problemsolving working with people and turning technical information into clear workable designs.
This role will see you:
- Work directly with customers on-site to assess and define connection requirements
- Develop accurate designs and cost estimates for overhead underground and augmentation projects
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients providing expert advice on connection options and pricing
- Coordinate design information and handover to delivery teams ensuring technical clarity
- Ensure all work complies with NECF TasNetworks standards and safety requirements
- Apply technical software and tools including MS Office AUD (Automated Utility Design)/AutoCAD/MicroStation surveying and network analysis applications
You are confident working in the field and in the office engaging with customers and stakeholders to understand their needs and translate them into safe efficient and constructible design solutions. With strong technical foundations and a clear professional communication style you build trusted relationships manage expectations effectively and apply sound judgement to deliver high-quality outcomes. You take pride in practical problem-solving attention to detail and driving projects forward in a structured and collaborative way.
You bring tertiary qualifications in power system design or significant trade-based experience in the electrical distribution industry. You understand underground and overhead distribution systems substations and street lighting and youre skilled with MS Office AUD (Automated Utility Design)/CAD applications surveying and design tools and network analysis techniques.
You take pride in producing highquality work meeting deadlines and supporting safe reliable outcomes for customers and the network.
