Role Overview
This is an exciting newly created opportunity for an experienced derivatives professional to join Trading 212s Australian operations at the ground level. As Derivatives Analyst you will serve as a subject-matter expert across both exchange-traded options and over-the-counter derivatives with a particular focus on Contracts for Difference (CFDs). You will work directly with clients to support their trading activity oversee trade and position monitoring produce regulatory and management reporting and contribute meaningfully to the growth and development of the Australian business.
What Youll Do
Client Support & Advisory
Serve as a primary point of contact for clients with queries relating to their CFD trades open positions margin requirements and account activity
Provide clear accurate and timely responses to client enquiries regarding product mechanics pricing and risk
Assist clients in understanding their derivative exposures including leverage mark-to-market movements and settlement
Liaise with internal teams including Compliance Risk and Technology to resolve complex client issues efficiently
Trade & Position Monitoring
Monitor live client CFD positions and exchange-traded options activity across all markets and asset classes
Identify and escalate unusual position activity margin breaches or risk concentrations in a timely manner
Support the daily reconciliation of client positions against internal systems and external counterparty records
Assist with the management of corporate actions rollovers and adjustments affecting open derivative positions
Reporting
Prepare and deliver accurate daily weekly and monthly position and exposure reports for internal management and regulatory purposes
Contribute to regulatory reporting obligations under ASIC requirements including EMIR-equivalent trade reporting where applicable
Maintain and improve existing reporting templates and dashboards to enhance operational visibility
Business Development & Operations
Identify opportunities to improve operational processes reduce manual workflows and enhance the client experience
Support the build-out of Trading 212s Australian derivatives offering including product scoping process design and system configuration
Collaborate with global teams to ensure Australian operations align with group-wide risk frameworks technology platforms and best practices
Contribute to the development of client-facing educational content and materials relating to derivative products
Liquidity & Treasury Management
Monitor liquidity funding levels and margin utilisation across Trading 212 Australias derivatives operations ensuring sufficient funding is maintained to support trading activity and operational requirements.
Liaise with UK Treasury Risk and Operations teams to manage funding requirements internal liquidity facilities and margin obligations
Identify and escalate liquidity risks or funding shortfalls coordinating funding movements and producing regular treasury and liquidity reporting for management.
What Youll Need
Essential
35 years of experience in a derivatives-focused role at a brokerage firm investment bank or similar financial institution
Bachelors or masters degree in finance Economics Accounting Commerce Mathematics Statistics or a related discipline
Demonstrable expertise in Contracts for Difference (CFDs) including product mechanics client margining and risk management
Solid working knowledge of exchange-traded options across equities indices commodities and/or FX
Experience in trade and position monitoring with a strong understanding of real-time risk management processes
Proven ability to communicate complex derivative concepts clearly and professionally to retail or institutional clients
Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Excel and/or reporting tools (e.g. Tableau Power BI or similar)
High attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced trading environment
Preferred
Familiarity with ASIC regulatory requirements relating to derivatives including the AFSL framework and relevant product disclosure obligations
Previous experience in a start-up scale-up or greenfield market-entry environment
RG146 accreditation in Derivatives (or equivalent) is advantageous
