ABOUT CHAIRO

Chairo is a growing non-denominational Christian school with 1900 Kinder to Year 12 students attending five picturesque campuses in West and South Gippsland the Latrobe Valley and the south-eastern outskirts of Melbourne.

Founded by Christian parents who felt passionately about providing for their children an integrated Christ-centred education that was consistent with the values they held Chairo commenced more than forty years ago.

ABOUT THE POSITION

We are currently seeking to appoint a Deputy Principal to commence at our Pakenham campus (Kinder to Year 12) in January 2027.

This is an important new leadership position with responsibility for leading the staff and overseeing the smooth operation of the campus in a manner that promotes a healthy Christ-centred school community.

The Deputy Principal will be a key member of the leadership team who works closely with the Principal to support the day-to-day management and strategic leadership of the campus.

As an experienced educator and leading teacher the Deputy Principal will be expected to model excellence in teaching and Christian leadership support staff development oversee campus operations and compliance and provide leadership in student wellbeing and discipline.

In the Principals absence the Deputy Principal will assume responsibility for campus leadership fostering a positive Christ-centred learning environment where staff members and students are able to thrive.

TRANSITION PERIOD

During 2027 the Deputy Principal will work across the entire campus supporting the Principal Head of Junior School Head of Middle School and Head of Senior School while playing a key role in leading and supporting significant organisational growth.

As the campus continues to develop the role is expected to evolve in response to changing campus needs and opportunities.

REQUIREMENTS & EXPECTATIONS

Having obtained relevant tertiary qualifications in education and being registered with the Victorian Institute of Teaching the successful candidate will be a respected teacher who leads by example.

They will also possess the following important characteristics:

  • Genuine Christian faith biblical foundation and active Christian lifestyle
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Chairos Statement of Faith
  • Experience in an educational leadership position or substantial experience as a respected teacher
  • Sound knowledge of current educational practices and teaching from a Christian worldview perspective
  • Ability to build strong partnering relationships and communication channels with all members of the school community
  • Enthusiasm for promoting the school and Christian education in general within the wider community
  • Demonstrated capacity to develop and exhibit proficiency aligned with the Australian Professional Standard for Principals and the key responsibilities outlined in the position description
  • Post-graduate qualifications (desirable)

COMMENCEMENT

The successful candidate will commence in January 2027.

TIME FRACTION

This role comprises a full-time ongoing teaching appointment and a three-year fixed-term Position of Responsibility with an approximate 0.6 FTE alongside a 0.4 FTE in a suitable teaching area.
