Your New Role and Responsibilities

We are seeking a Database Engineer to join our Digital Modernisation Division working in complex multi-vendor technology environments within a supportive and collaborative team. This is a 12 month maximum tenure contract role.

This role requires strong technical expertise in Microsoft SQL engineering combined with a thoughtful approach to problem solving clear communication and a genuine passion for continuous learning. Youll play a meaningful role in supporting database administration optimisation and automation initiatives helping to deliver reliable and scalable data platforms.

Key Responsibilities

• Design develop and maintain automated solutions supporting database operations including provisioning deployment monitoring and maintenance

• Administer Microsoft SQL Server environments to ensure availability performance security and integrity of enterprise data platforms

• Monitor and optimise database performance through query tuning indexing strategies and capacity planning

• Implement automation within CI/CD pipelines to enable consistent and repeatable database deployments

• Collaborate across engineering data and infrastructure teams to deliver integrated reliable and secure database solutions

About You and What Youll Bring

• Experience working with Microsoft SQL Server including database administration query development and performance optimisation

• Strong SQL expertise with the ability to write troubleshoot and optimise queries stored procedures and data processes

• Solid understanding of database fundamentals such as data modelling indexing backup/recovery and high availability

• Experience with automation and scripting (e.g. PowerShell Python or Bash) including exposure to CI/CD and version control practices

• Collaborative mindset with strong analytical and problem-solving skills across database and automation environments

This role does require the successful applicant to be an Australian Citizen and be able to gain and maintain a Baseline level security clearance.
