About the role
As the Data Insight Analyst you will be a data-driven policy advisor using metrics data analysis modelling and research to guide stakeholders on decisions impacting reforms and policy in VET and Skills and Higher Education Division.
Your responsibilities:
- Prepare high-quality briefs discussion papers and reports by analysing large and complex datasets within strict timeframes translating findings into clear evidence-based insights and recommendations to inform strategic decision-making and policy outcomes.
- Collaborate with business units executives and policy stakeholders to undertake analysis modelling and forecasting to assess VET market outcomes and support data-informed reform.
- Drive and implement continuous improvements in the sourcing quality and use of data to support evidence-based decision-making

About you
To be successful in this role you will bring a blend of strong investigative and analytical mindset with the capability to engage and collaborate with stakeholders integrate data analysis market intelligence and broader contextual information and develop insights that support strategic reporting and decision-making.
You will demonstrate:
- Ability to analyse source and translate data insights into high-quality briefings reporting and recommendations to support informed decisions
- Experience working with large and complex datasets to identify trends risks and insights
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to present complex data into clear and easy way
- Experience using tools such as R Python SQL and Power BI
- Effective time management skills to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality pieces of work
- Experience in government public policy or education sector is desirable.
Key knowledge and experience
- Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Departments Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Departments Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.
Essential requirements of the role
- Degree qualified in a quantitative discipline and/or equivalent knowledge and experience.
- A current Working with Children Check for paid employment
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education.
