Data Engineer

Position Description:

Recognised as one of the worlds largest IT and business consulting firms CGI has offices across Australia supporting local public and private sector clients to solve real business problems.

We are seeking an experienced detail-oriented and analytical Data Engineer to support large-scale data migrations for public sector clients including HR and Health EMR transformation initiatives.

The successful candidate will work closely with project teams and technical resources to design and implement data migration solutions and data flows. They will provide expertise to help identify data dependencies improve data quality and support governance migration and validation activities throughout the project lifecycle.

Flexible work is available including hybrid work from home/client site in Hobart.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

Play a key role in supporting a meaningful healthcare transformation and data migration program that will positively impact patients and clinical teams.
Work closely with business and technical stakeholders to understand analyse and improve data quality across multiple systems.
Assist with data profiling mapping validation and migration readiness activities.
Identify opportunities to improve data consistency usability and governance practices.
Contribute to collaborative workshops discussions and solution planning with cross-functional teams.
Support a positive inclusive and team-focused project environment where ideas and contributions are valued.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

Advanced proficiency in T-SQL and MSSQL. Knowledge of databases such as Oracle would be beneficial.
Broad and deep knowledge of data management and governance concepts.
ETL expertise ideally in MS SSIS.
PowerBI or other reporting experience beneficial but not required.
Experience on previous data migration projects and knowledge of related skills such as data mapping/conversion and quality/cleansing.
High level of technical proficiency and attention to detail.
Excellent soft skills and experience with stakeholder management
