Cyber Security Analyst
Job Summary
- Alert Triage & Initial Investigation: Perform first-line triage of security alerts within the SIEM platform. Conduct initial log analysis enrich alerts identify false positives and document rationale for alert closure.
- Escalation & Handover: Escalate confirmed or complex incidents to Senior Analysts with clear complete and well-structured context and documentation in line with SLAs and SOC procedures.
- Log Review & Correlation: Review and correlate logs across multiple sources to assist in establishing incident context and verification across diverse customer environments.
- Microsoft 365 Alert Handling: Perform initial review and triage of M365 security alerts (email-borne threats suspicious authentication account alerts).
- Documentation & Process Adherence: Maintain accurate records of triage and investigation activity in ticketing systems while strictly following SOC playbooks and customer-specific procedures.
- Continuous Growth: Participate in structured learning and development activities shadowing Senior Analysts on complex investigations to expand your technical depth.
- Qualifications (Required): Tertiary Study Vocational Training or Industry Certification in Cyber Security Information Technology or a related discipline.
- Technical Knowledge: Sound understanding of core cyber security principles threat landscapes network security and Operating Systems (Windows/Linux).
- Hands-on Exposure: Prior experience or familiarity with SIEM platforms log analysis tools and Microsoft 365 Security environments.
- Analytical Mindset: Strong problem-solving ability with high attention to detail when investigating logs and anomalous activity.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for clear incident documentation and handovers.
