Your Opportunity

For over 30 years our Post Adoption Resource Centre (PARC) has walked alongside people across NSW whose lives have been shaped by adoption including those navigating identity grief loss reconnection and the lasting impacts of trauma. This is meaningful specialised work where every conversation matters and where your ability to create safety trust and hope can make a real difference.

As our Post Adoption Counsellor youll provide trauma-informed counselling therapeutic group work intermediary support information and research services to individuals and families at all stages of their post-adoption journey. Youll support clients through sensitive moments such as record searches preparing for family connection debriefing after reunions and linking with wraparound supports all while working within a small supportive team that values reflective practice compassion and clinical integrity.

This role will be offered on either a Full Time or Part Time basis and we welcome applications from candidates seeking either arrangement.

How You Will Contribute

• Provide trauma-informed counselling to people affected by adoption including support around grief trauma identity relationships and family connection.
• Develop monitor and review client plans using strengths-based assessments and risk minimisation processes.
• Deliver therapeutic group work health promotion activities and community education workshops.
• Provide intermediary information and research services including support with record searches and preparing for family connection.
• Work collaboratively with clients families government departments health providers and other wraparound services.
• Maintain clear accurate and timely client records documentation and service updates.

Your Skills and Experience

We want you to be successful in your new role! This means youll have:

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Social Work Psychology Counselling or a related discipline.
• Minimum 3 years experience providing counselling services including therapeutic work with individuals families and/or couples.
• Strong understanding of adoption-related issues including trauma grief and loss identity family connection and reunion.
• Experience delivering trauma-informed strengths-based therapeutic services and group work.
• Ability to build safe respectful relationships with clients who may be navigating complex or sensitive experiences.
• Strong communication documentation and collaboration skills with flexibility to travel and work occasional evenings or weekends.
