An exciting opportunity is available for a Consultant Paediatrician to join a supportive and highly experienced Womens Children and Youth team at a leading tertiary hospital in tropical Northern Australia.

REMUNERATION AND SUPPORT

This position offers exposure to one of Australias most varied and rewarding general paediatric practices providing specialist care across tertiary regional and remote health services.

THE OPPORTUNITY
You will manage a broad and clinically stimulating caseload across acute general developmental and behavioural paediatrics.
The service provides:
  • General paediatric and adolescent inpatient care
  • Neonatal intensive care and retrieval services
  • General and specialist outpatient clinics
  • Outreach services to regional hospitals and remote communities
  • Care for children and families from culturally diverse backgrounds
  • Teaching and supervision of paediatric trainees junior doctors and medical students
Clinical presentations range from common childhood illnesses to complex conditions more prevalent across tropical rural and remote communities including bronchiectasis rheumatic heart disease malnutrition and infectious diseases.
You will also contribute to clinical governance service development research quality improvement and postgraduate education.

ABOUT YOU
To be considered you will have:
  • FRACP in Paediatrics and specialist registration with AHPRA; or
  • An overseas specialist qualification assessed as substantially comparable; or
  • Eligibility to apply through Australias Expedited Specialist Pathway
  • Experience in acute and general paediatrics
  • Strong communication teamwork and clinical leadership skills
  • An interest in teaching research and continuous quality improvement
  • A commitment to improving Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health outcomes
  • The ability to work effectively within a culturally diverse environment
