Construction Specialist- Water and Habitat Delegate (International Humanitarian Register)Australian Red Cross is seeking skilled construction professionals to join our International Delegate (aid worker) Register. From the Delegate Register Construction Specialists can be deployed internationally to support operations of the International Committee of The Red Cross (ICRC) and provide professional assistance to communities impacted by humanitarian disasters or conflicts. Deployments typically last for 12 or 24 months and are note that recruitment to the Delegate Register does not guarantee employment with Red Cross. It does however place the individual on standby to deploy and enables suitable preparation and training for deployment should the need arise. Prepares designs procures implements and commissions identified construction projects. Manages relationships with the partners involved. Essential Qualifications University degree (or equivalent) and professional experience in architecture civil or structural engineering or related Management qualification (e.g. PMP PRINCE2 CertIV) or equivalent demonstrated experience is Essential RequirementsCitizen or permanent resident of spoken and written English required (CEFR standard C1 or C2).Level B2 (CEFR standard) in a second language (French Arabic Spanish or Russian) strongly (5 years) professional experience managing WatHab sub speciality humanitarian and/or development experience in low-income countries or countries impacted by disaster or conflict (non-government organisations international organisations or charity).Contract management experience including service delivery and consultant contractors. Technical CompetenciesAbility to prepare an architectural programme based on the needs and conditions expressed by the client. Able to create and/or interpretate architectural drawings and specifications and define the most appropriate construction methods materials and proficient knowledge of architectural and/or structural design processes and tools. Has relevant experience designing and building medium to large construction projects in diverse operational comprehensive architectural programmes and Project Proposals ensuring all requests of the client are adequately included in the design of the Feasibility Studies strategically including all the requirements of the client while fostering coordination between the Project Team the Task Force and the government bodies;Understands most building codes construction techniques and procurement processes.
