Job Summary

The Construction Project Manager is responsible for overseeing the end-to-end construction process for new restaurant builds and refurbishments ensuring all GYG stores are built on time to standard and within budget.

This includes ensuring each project aligns with approved designs landlord agreements and financial commitments while managing all external and internal stakeholders throughout the construction phase.

This role requires close collaboration with Development and Design teams to ensure all stores are executed to GYGs quality standards operational requirements and strategic growth objectives.

More specifically you will:

  • Provide end-to-end project management for all new builds and major & Minor refurbishments in QLD

  • Ensure all projects are delivered on time and in line with financial year commitments

  • Proactively identify and resolve construction challenges to maintain timelines and avoid delays
  • Deliver all construction projects within or under the approved budget maximising cost efficiencies without compromising quality
  • Monitor construction costs contractor expenses and unforeseen expenditures ensuring financial discipline
  • Identify and implement cost-saving measures while maintaining high-quality standards
  • Ensure all restaurants are built in strict adherence to approved designs specifications and quality benchmarks
  • Validate that construction meets GYGs operational and brand requirements ensuring consistency across all locations
  • Confirm that all construction aligns with landlord agreements obtaining necessary approvals and addressing compliance issues
  • Act as the primary liaison between all external contractors landlords suppliers and regulatory bodies during the construction phase
  • Partner with Design Managers to ensure seamless translation of design plans into construction execution
  • Maintain clear and consistent communication with internal leadership finance and operations teams to ensure alignment on project progress
  • Identify and mitigate potential risks delays and compliance issues throughout the construction lifecycle
  • Conduct quality checks and site inspections to ensure work meets GYGs standards before handover

Qualifications

  • Degree or diploma in Construction Management Civil/Structural Engineering Architecture or a related field
  • 3 or more years of post-graduate experience in construction project management or a built environment role
  • Experience on commercial retail or hospitality fitout projects is advantageous
  • Strong understanding of construction processes site management contractor coordination and budget control
  • Ability to simultaneously manage multiple construction projects at different stages with tight timelines
  • Knowledge of building codes permits and regulatory compliance requirements
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills with experience managing landlords contractors and internal teams

  • Competent in MS Office (Word Excel) project management tools and Bluebeam (access and licensing provided by the business)
  • Knowledge of or interest in AI tools and their application in construction and project management is highly regarded
  • Willingness to travel intrastate and interstate as required
  • Valid Australian drivers licence
