About the role
Temporary full-time up to 4 years
The Conservator (Loans) is responsible for planning coordinating and delivering conservation services for inward and outward loans with a focus on the safe handling movement installation display and care of collection objects and borrowed material. The role also provides conservation support for commissions and public art at Powerhouse Parramatta and contributes to the preservation access and presentation of the Museums multi-disciplinary collections. Working across teams and with external partners the role delivers specialist advice and practical conservation outcomes that enable exhibitions research public programs and loans activity while ensuring appropriate risk management and long-term collection care.

It is the custodian of more than half a million objects of national and international significance and is considered one of the finest and most diverse collections in Australia. We are undertaking a landmark $1.3 billion infrastructure renewal program led by the creation of Powerhouse Parramatta; expanded research and public facilities at Powerhouse Castle Hill; the heritage revitalisation of the iconic Powerhouse Ultimo; and the ongoing operation of Sydney Observatory.
