About the role

The Communications Strategy function is responsible for developing and implementing AEMOs communication strategy engaging employees and positioning the company with external stakeholders in line with and in support of the organisations wider strategic direction and objectives. Communications are central to establishing and maintaining AEMOs reputation and relationships with key external stakeholders including industry government and consumers. Effective communications are integral to AEMOs work and drives engagement in and awareness of our programs and initiatives as we actively shape and plan for Australias energy future.

As Communications Officer youll provide foundational communication support to the Communications Strategy team while developing practical capability in strategic communications content development planning coordination engagement and evaluation. This role supports communication activity for projects campaigns publications and organisational priorities while building skills in audience-focused writing planning discipline integrated delivery and communication standards.

What you will be doing

  • Develop and deliver communication plans content and materials that support projects campaigns publications and organisational priorities.
  • Draft and edit a range of communication products including intranet articles web content social media posts key messages FAQs briefing notes and stakeholder updates.
  • Coordinate communication activities by managing timelines tracking actions organising inputs facilitating approvals and engaging with subject matter experts and stakeholders.
  • Conduct research audience analysis stakeholder scans and content reviews to inform communication planning messaging and content development.
  • Assist in the delivery and evaluation of campaigns publications announcements and events ensuring all materials align with AEMOs brand style accessibility and communication standards.

What you will bring to the role

  • Relevant tertiary qualification or progress towards a qualification in Communications Public Relations Journalism Marketing Business Media Policy or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated foundational skills in writing editing research and coordination with the ability to develop clear accurate and audience-focused communication materials.
  • Strong interest in strategic communications corporate affairs stakeholder engagement public policy energy or organisational communications.
  • Proven ability to learn quickly manage assigned tasks follow processes collaborate effectively and build positive working relationships with a range of stakeholders.
  • High attention to detail curiosity and initiative with a developing understanding of communication channels audience needs content standards and professional writing principles and a willingness to build capability across communication planning content development and evaluation.
