The role
We are looking for a Commonwealth Government Practice Coordinator to join our Commonwealth Government practice based in Canberra on a full-time permanent basis.
This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in one of the firms flagship practice areas supporting the operational requirements of the practice and helping to drive the delivery of high-quality service to Commonwealth Government clients.
Working closely with Partners lawyers Business Services teams and government stakeholders you will coordinate reporting panel administration security clearance processes and a range of practice support activities while also providing broader paralegal support across the team.
This is a varied and hands-on role suited to a highly organised professional who enjoys building strong relationships managing competing priorities and contributing to the ongoing success of a busy legal practice.
Responsibilities
- Support the day-to-day operational and administrative requirements of the Commonwealth Government practice including panel management reporting and stakeholder coordination
- Coordinate Australian Government security clearance processes working closely with employees government agencies and internal stakeholders
- Coordinate Commonwealth Government reporting obligations ensuring accurate and timely submission in accordance with client and panel requirements
- Act as a key point of contact for internal and external stakeholders regarding panel arrangements matter administration and client-specific requirements
- Draft and prepare correspondence reports legal documents and other practice-related materials
- Conduct legal research and assist with the preparation of briefs schedules and summaries
- Maintain reporting data practice resources and key information repositories
- Support process improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of efficient and consistent reporting and administrative processes
Requirements
- Australian citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain an Australian Government Security Clearance
- Previous experience in a legal support practice support coordination administration or paralegal role within a law firm or government
- Experience working with government clients panel arrangements or reporting requirements will be highly regarded
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to build effective relationships across all levels of an organisation
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to draft professional correspondence and documentation
- Strong organisational skills attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- A proactive collaborative approach and commitment to delivering excellent client service
- Strong Microsoft Office skills particularly Outlook Word and Excel
