Job Summary
Proudly Tasmanian and independently owned The Old Woolstore Apartment Hotel is a multiple award-winning accommodation hotel. We are conveniently located near Hobarts CBD and famous waterfront offering 242 hotel rooms and spacious apartments along with Stockmans Restaurant the Baaa Bar and a comprehensive range of meeting and event facilities. Our vision is to provide our guests with unique Tasmanian hospitality experiences enjoyed and recommended by all. We also operate Hadleys Orient Hotel a 71-bedroom boutique heritage property in the heart of Hobarts CBD. There may be opportunities to work across both properties for the right candidate.
We are seeking a fully qualified and experienced chef to join our kitchen team on a casual basis. Led by our Executive Chef Sam Wagg Stockmans Restaurant serves breakfast dinner and room service as well as catering for onsite events and visiting groups. We focus on local fresh ingredients with menus that reflect the tastes of Tasmania.
You will be responsible for delivering high-quality food production that meets customer expectations service objectives and food safety guidelines. You must ensure consistency and maintain high standards at all times including managing stock levels in line with trade demands and adhering to shelf-life and storage requirements. You will be someone who succeeds in a high-functioning team environment delivering events restaurant service and bar food.
Our preferred requirements:
Trade certificate in cookery.
At least 2 years experience in a large kitchen at chef level.
Food Safety Supervisory (FSS) accreditation will be favourably considered.
Sound knowledge of HACCP and food safety principles.
Familiarity with a wide range of cooking styles and cuisines.
Strong communication skills and the ability to foster positive and collaborative team relationships.
Flexibility is essential as shifts will include days evenings weekends and public holidays.
