About the opportunity

You will play a key role in coordinating and delivering strategic and operational programs that strengthen Cardinia Shires capacity to respond to climate resilience across its operations and services.

In this role you will join a supportiveenthusiasticand passionate team with the opportunity to work across the whole organisation to bring people together and deliver meaningful outcomes. Your exceptional project management skills will be essential as you coordinate priorities build strong relationships and drive initiatives that support Councils climate resilience goals.

You will make an impact by

  • Leading thedevelopmentimplementationand ongoing review of Councils Climate Change AdaptationPlanandTowards Zero EmissionsPlan.
  • Providingexpert advice to Council and the community on climate change adaptation energyefficiencyand emissions reduction.
  • Managing Councils carbon inventory and emissions reporting including data tracking analysis and compliance with relevant legislation and standards.
  • Designing and delivering climate change resilience and energy efficiency projectsprogramsand initiatives.
  • Identifyingopportunities to improve environmental performance through renewable energyinnovationand best-practice approaches.
  • Contributing to policy and strategy development including preparing submissions and responses to government legislation and programs.
  • Building andmaintainingstrong partnerships with internal stakeholders governmentagenciesand regional networks including theSouth EastCouncils Climate Change Alliance.
  • Staying informed on emerging trends policy and regulatory changes in climate resilienceenergyand emissions management.

What you will bring

  • Tertiary qualification in environmental science engineering planning carbonmanagementor a related discipline.
  • Sound understanding of climate change adaptationresilienceand carbon emissions frameworks including relevant legislation.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing implementingmonitoringand reporting on policystrategiesor programs.
  • Proven ability to plan deliver and oversee projects effectively with strong time management skills.
  • Well-developed research analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage and collaborate across teams.
  • Knowledge or experience in energy efficiency renewableenergyand emissions management (desirable).
  • A collaborative innovative and future-focused mindset with a commitment to continuous learning and sharing knowledge.
