Child and Family Support Practitioner Max-Term Part-Time opportunity

• 12 month contract
• Part-time job share
• Monday and Thursday (preferred days but flexible)

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Child and Family Support Practitioner is a key member of Waullo Dawn (Armadale Family Domestic Violence Alliance). Waullo Dawn is a multidisciplinary team providing trauma informed strengths-based support to families with infants children and young people who are at risk ofor impacted by family and domestic violence.

The role works collaboratively with parents caregivers and partner agencies to strengthen parenting capacity promote child wellbeing enhance family functioning and support safe nurturingrelationships.

Through individualised support group facilitation education and community engagement the practitioner assists families to build resilience access appropriate services and achievepositive outcomes.

The practitioner contributes specialist knowledge of child development parenting and family wellbeing and early intervention within a multidisciplinary and culturally responsive servicemodel.

DUTIES

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Work collaboratively in a partnership model with families to identify their strengths and meet their individual parenting and health needs.
• Provide comprehensive evidence-based information relating to early years parenting child development and family health and well-being.
• Provide access and equity of services for families with diverse backgrounds including gender culture and disability.
• Work with families in both group and individual sessions.
• Link families to relevant community resources.
• Work in partnership with the Alliance partners in supporting families.

ABOUT YOU

Essential Knowledge and Skills

• Tertiary qualification in one of the following disciplinaries:

Nursing midwifery or Child Health Nursing

Social Work

Occupational Therapy

Psychology

Counselling

Community Services

Human Services

Other relevant health allied health or behavioural science discipline.

Where applicable current registration with relevant professional registration body (eg AHPRA).

• Demonstrated experience supporting vulnerable children and families experiencing adversity trauma and/or family domestic violence.
• Demonstrated experience facilitating groups workshops or parenting programs.
• Sound understanding of child development attachment early intervention and family functioning.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary and integrated service environments.
• Strong communication engagement and relationship building skills.
• Experience applying trauma-informed strengths based and culturally responsive practice frameworks.
• Know of local community services and referral pathways.
• Effective communication skills both written and oral with a strong focus on listening
• Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills showing initiative creativity andflexibility.

Desirable Attributes

• Training in Circle of Security Bringing Up Great Kids or other group facilitation.
• Passionate about early intervention and family centred practice.
• Employs an ethical and professional approach to practice.
• Effective/warm interpersonal and relationship building skills.

Role requirements

• Ability to work across other Ngala sites as required.
• Possession of a current National Police Certificate.
• Possession of current WA drivers licence.
• Possession of current Working with Children check
