Your Opportunity

The Benevolent Society is a Partner in the Community for the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) and are adding additional Child Development Specialists to our growing Early Childhood Approach (ECA) team.

You will work in partnership with families and early childhood services to gather information on their childs development. You will support families to develop understand and implement their childs NDIS plans. As an evolving scheme the NDIS environment can be dynamic and fast-paced if you are open and excited by change and love being part of creating and working through the best approaches come join us and be part of making a difference through these changes.

As a Child Development Specialist you will help coordinate the delivery of our Early Childhood Approach Program by responding to enquiries from existing clients and families completing administration duties and meeting with families to support them through their NDIS journey. Your keen eye for detail and responsiveness to families will be a key asset when supporting participants and their families to navigate the NDIS.

How You Will Contribute

• Respond quickly and effectively to client enquiries using a human-centred and strengths-based approach to build relationships
• Meet children caregivers and other key stakeholders in natural settings to gather information about the daily functional impacts of a childs development or disability through a strengths-based approach
• Documenting information on a childs development or disability to provide recommendations for supports including referrals to mainstream/community services and potential funded supports through the NDIS
• Serve as a point of contact via our intake phone line and email inbox for existing clients and their families who are looking for support with their NDIS plan
• Building the capacity of caregivers to meet their childs individual goals through providing information and education relating to early childhood development

Your Skills and Experience

• Proven excellent verbal written and interpersonal skills including active listening skills and demonstrated ability to adapt communication style and approach to the level of the audience
• Strong IT skills using multiple software applications simultaneously with proficiency in troubleshooting if required
• Demonstrated interpersonal skills including the ability to build professional trusting relationships quickly with awareness to CALD communities
• Demonstrated effective time and priority management skills with the ability to manage competing deadlines & stakeholders with repeated interruptions
• Proven reflective skills and tools to manage personal well-being when supporting vulnerable families including knowing when to reach out for help
