EnergyCo NSW is spearheading the transition to renewable energy to deliver clean electricity to the people of NSW as coal-fired power stations near closure.


About the Opportunity

The Operations Branch of EnergyCo are seeking to appoint a Chief Risk Officer to provide enterprise leadership for risk management including establishing and embedding the organisations risk management framework across EnergyCo and providing independent strategic advice to the Executive on key risks to support informed decision making and delivery outcomes.

The role also leads governance and compliance functions to ensure effective oversight strong accountability and consistent decision making while strengthening organisational risk maturity and improving the risk and governance functions.

About You

You are an experienced senior risk leader with a proven ability to embed enterprise-wide risk management frameworks in complex environments. You bring strong expertise in governance risk and compliance influencing executives to drive proactive consistent practices beyond compliance.

You operate collaboratively partnering effectively with the business while maintaining independence and discretion in audits and compliance. You are trusted to manage sensitive issues with confidentiality.

You anticipate and manage emerging risks across large-scale programs build capability and risk culture and lead teams to deliver clear insights and resilient high-quality outcomes.

Essential Requirements

  • Appropriate tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline such as education business management social sciences or communications and/or equivalent knowledge and experience.

Who we are

The Energy Corporation of NSW (EnergyCo) is a statutory corporation established under the Energy and Utilities Administration Act 1987 and governed by its Board appointed by the Minister for Energy. EnergyCo is a Staff Agency employing all EnergyCo staff and is an agency related to the Department of Climate Change Energy the Environment and Water (DCCEEW).

EnergyCo plays a pivotal role in the NSW Governments Electricity Infrastructure Roadmap which aims to transform the states electricity system into one that is cheap clean and reliable. As Infrastructure Planner under the Electricity Infrastructure Investment Act 2020 EnergyCo is responsible for leading the delivery of the States first five Renewable Energy Zones (REZs) and the first two priority transmission infrastructure projects (PTIPs) which are located in the Central-West Orana New England South West Hunter-Central Coast and Illawarra regions. We work closely with communities investors and industry to investigate plan recommend and coordinate generation storage and network infrastructure projects.

We acknowledge the ongoing custodial responsibilities of the Aboriginal peoples of NSW to care for Country and water and are committed to establishing meaningful partnerships with Aboriginal peoples in the management of the environment.
