About the opportunity
The Dispute Management Division (DMD) operates within WorkSafes Return to Work Victoria Business Unit and has the primary responsibility for the management of common law statutory benefits disputes third party recovery claims and associated litigation.
The Business Support Officer will provide administrative support and service to the business utilising a variety of policies and procedures and with some specialist knowledge required. This may involve either coordinating the activities of others or supporting a manager and their team or providing support across the division.
This role requires flexibility agility and responsiveness to support the achievement of business addition some travel to Melbourne CBD will be required for this role on an adhoc basis.
Key accountabilities:
- Act as a point of contact for stakeholders and as required undertake VicRoads searches and audit compliance in accordance with VicRoads Information Protection Agreement (IPA) between VicRoads and WorkSafe and liaise with VicRoads regarding information requested in accordance the Road Safety Act 1986 (Vic);
- Managing business process for the division such as access to systems and finance support in relation to completing invoice processing for the legal panel and cost consultant and raising purchase requisitions
- Support the Manager to coordinate the planning developments implementation and monitoring of initiatives across the Business Operations team as required
- Coordinating and supporting workshops and meetings with both internal and external stakeholders
- Coordinate and participate in a variety of administration and operational projects by completing set tasks and regularly reporting back to management on progress;

About you
You will have demonstrated knowledge and administration experience working within an Insurance and/or Legal environment in addition to having strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage with diverse stakeholder groups.
In addition you will have proven techniques to learn new IT systems quickly strong organisational skills and the ability to plan prioritise work and meet prescribed deadlines.
Additionally you will possess the following skills and experience:
- Experience within a legal agent or professional services environment with an understanding of legal system and litigation process
- Demonstrated ability to read and understand legal documents with a strong attention to detail and ability to comply with relevant legal and procedural requirements
- Technical understanding of the processes surrounding legislative statutory entitlements
- Sound problem-solving skills and judgement skills to escalate or address issues autonomously
- Tenacity in overcoming obstacles and taking the initiative to recommend and develop solutions to enhance learning and development
- Adaptability to the variations in workflow and demands
- Intermediate-advanced computer skills in Word Excel PowerPoint Access Outlook
