About the role

We are seeking an experienced and strategicManager Business Intelligenceto lead the technical development of business intelligence solutions and this pivotal leadership role you will shape the strategic direction of our data and analytics ecosystem ensuring it aligns with enterprise architecture security standards and organisational priorities.

You will provide technical direction and expert guidance for the design development and continuous improvement of scalable and secure data and analytics solutions. You will ensure alignment with enterprise architecture data governance and security frameworks delivering trusted business intelligence products and data assets that empower evidence-based decision-making across the organisation.

You will lead a high-performing multidisciplinary team of BI developers data engineers and analysts driving data engineering practices advanced analytics adoption and automation while managing the lifecycle performance and risk of BI platforms at scale.

This role offers the opportunity to influence the strategic technical direction of the Departments analytics ecosystem data quality and complex stakeholder environments.

About you -

You are an accomplished leader with deep expertise in business intelligence data engineering and analytics within large complex organisations. You have a proven history of delivering enterprise-scale BI and data platform solutions in cloud environments and a strong command of data governance security and modern data engineering practices.

You excel at partnering with business and technical stakeholders to translate complex requirements into scalable sustainable BI products. You demonstrate exceptional leadership in managing technical teams fostering innovation and driving continuous capability uplift.

You will bring:

  • Demonstrated experience leading business intelligence data engineering or analytics functions within a medium to large organisation.
  • Strong expertise in designing and delivering scalable BI solutions data warehouses data models pipelines and analytics platforms.
  • Deep working knowledge of cloud-based data platforms distributed data processing data governance information security privacy compliance and data quality frameworks.
  • Experience developing and overseeing secure high-performance BI solutions including lifecycle management risk mitigation optimisation monitoring and technical debt management.
  • Strong proficiency in DevSecOps principles agile delivery methodologies and implementing security and privacy across BI platforms.
  • Hands on expertise with Microsoft suite of data solutions big data technologies and modern data practices
  • Proven ability to build strong relationships with executive and business stakeholders translating strategic objectives into practical and sustainable analytics solutions.
  • Experience in leading and mentoring technical teams through workforce planning capability uplift and performance management fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • A collaborative and customer-focused approach with excellent communication influencing and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • A passion for innovation and continuous learning with an interest in emerging technologies automation advanced analytics and modern data engineering practices.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Departments Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Departments Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.

Essential requirements of the role

  • Tertiary qualifications and/or industry certifications relevant to BI data engineering and analytics or equivalent experience.
  • Current and valid Working with Children Check (WWCC) Clearance for paid employment.
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education.
