Browns Plains Location Day Shift Manufacturing Environment $48 p/hr

RPR Trades is currently seeking an experienced Brake Press Operator for a well-established Australian-owned manufacturing business based in the Browns Plains area.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled machine operator who enjoys precision work reading drawings setting up machinery and producing high-quality folded components. The role is suited to someone who takes pride in accuracy safety quality workmanship and working within a practical hands-on production environment.

Our client manufactures custom materials-handling equipment and related fabricated components with a focus on quality durability and practical solutions for customers across Australia.

About the Role

As a Brake Press Operator you will be responsible for setting up and operating CNC press brake machinery to produce folded metal components to specification.

You will work from engineering drawings job sheets and production instructions to manufacture accurate parts used in custom-built products and fabricated assemblies. This role will involve working with lighter-gauge materials and producing components where quality consistency and attention to detail are essential.

Key Responsibilities

Your duties may include:

  • Set up and operate CNC press brake machinery
  • Select and install the correct tooling punches and dies for each job
  • Load or adjust programs where required
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings work orders and job sheets
  • Measure check and inspect components to ensure they meet specifications
  • Work with materials such as mild steel stainless steel and aluminium
  • Produce folded brackets panels frames and other fabricated components
  • Perform first-off checks before continuing production runs
  • Maintain accuracy quality and consistency across completed work
  • Use measuring equipment to check dimensions and tolerances
  • Identify production issues and report faults or concerns
  • Keep the work area clean organised and safe
  • Follow all workplace health and safety procedures
  • Assist with general workshop or fabrication duties where required
Skills and Experience Required

To be successful in this role you will ideally have:

  • Previous brake press operating experience
  • Experience working in a manufacturing fabrication or sheet metal environment
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and practical problem-solving skills
  • Good understanding of measurements tolerances and quality checks
  • Experience setting up machines and selecting suitable tooling
  • Ability to work safely and follow procedures
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Reliable work ethic and good attendance
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

Experience with machines such as Amada Yawei Bystronic Trumpf SafanDarley LVD or similar will be highly regarded.

Highly Regarded

The following will be advantageous but may not be essential:

  • Forklift licence
  • Experience with light-gauge sheet metal
  • Experience with custom fabrication or made-to-order manufacturing
  • Basic CNC programming or program adjustment experience
  • Previous experience working with brackets frames panels trolleys carts or fabricated components
  • Own reliable transport
