We have a rare opportunity foran experienced Associate (or equivalent / similar level) to joinour growing Dispute Resolution - Public Law team in Sydney workingalongside highly regarded Partners and lawyers on complex andhigh-profile matters.
This role is suited to alawyer with public law litigation experience who is looking to takethe next step in their career working closely with a SpecialCounsel in a growing practice and a supportive and collaborativeenvironment.
As a firm appointed to theWhole of Australian Government Legal Services Panel across fivesubstantive areas and to both NSW and Victorian State Governmentpanels we offer access to a strong pipeline of government team brings deep experience advising Commonwealth and StateGovernment clients and a strong understanding of the publicsector.
You will sit within ournational Dispute Resolution section of approximately 115 teammembers. We provide the full range of legal services to publicsector clients combining deep expertise with a commercialperspective and leveraging our firms very established strengthsacross insurance and commercial law.
The successful candidate willbe involved in a range of public law litigation mattersincluding:
- representing various state and Commonwealth Government agencies and departments;
- independently running subpoena objections including courtroom advocacy throughout all Courts and Tribunals across NSW;
- responding to Standing Order 52 requests; and
- a variety of other administrative law public law judicial review matters and complex litigation.
Aboutyou
You will ideally have thefollowing skills and experience:
- between 2 and 5 years of post-admission experience (PAE) in administrative / public law and litigation;
- experience advising Commonwealth and/or NSW Government agencies / departments;
- experience representing the NSW Police Force will be highly regarded;
- strong communication and drafting skills with outstanding attention to detail;
- excellent negotiation skills and an interest in advocacy;
- the ability to confidently run matters through dispute resolution processes; and
- the ability to handle a busy workload with competing timelines.
