• Casual rates apply relative to experience ($53.25 to $59.23 per hour) plus relevant superannuation

Our Environmental Forensics team is currently seeking to appoint an Assistant Scientist to contribute to scientific investigations and projects that help protect the environment and support evidence-based decision-making across NSW.

As an Assistant Scientist you will support the delivery of scientific projects through data collection and analysis maintenance of the laboratory and organism cultures and assisting with technical investigations and toxicity testing with a particular focus on environmental forensics and related scientific disciplines. Working alongside experienced scientists and technical experts you will contribute to high-quality scientific outcomes that inform environmental regulation policy and operational decision-making. This role offers exposure to complex environmental investigations and the chance to develop your technical expertise within a highly skilled and supportive team environment.

About You
You are an emerging science professional with a passion for applying scientific knowledge to solve complex environmental challenges. With qualifications and experience in ecotoxicology environmental forensics or a related scientific discipline you bring strong analytical and research skills and enjoy working with data evidence and technical information to support meaningful environmental outcomes. You have a keen eye for detail a commitment to scientific rigour and the ability to contribute to the delivery of high-quality projects and investigations.

You are a collaborative and proactive team member who builds positive working relationships with colleagues research partners and stakeholders. You communicate technical information clearly manage competing priorities effectively and adapt quickly to changing project needs. Motivated by continuous learning and improvement you enjoy working in a supportive team environment and take pride in delivering reliable customer-focused scientific outcomes that help protect the people and environment of NSW.

Essential Requirements

• Scientific qualifications and knowledge of ecotoxicology and/or environmental forensics science.
