The Opportunity

Join KBRs Armoured Fighting Vehicle Branch (AFVB) and contribute to the delivery of high-quality Quality Assurance (QA) outcomes across complex Defence programs including Infantry Fighting Vehicles (IFV) mission systems training systems and support system equipment.

Based at H-ACE Avalon and Victoria Barracks Melbourne the Assistant Quality Assurance Manager plays a key supporting role within a multidisciplinary team in delivering and coordinating day-to-day QA activities. Working closely with the Quality Assurance Manager this role ensures that acceptance inspection and assurance activities are effectively planned executed and reported to the required standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinating and supporting assurance activities inspections and audits across IFV vehicles as well as mission training and support systems.
  • Reviewing supplier build and delivery schedules to plan QA activities.
  • Conducting physical inspections audits and technical assessments.
  • Supporting Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and verification activities
  • Reviewing inspection results and test evidence for accuracy and completeness.
  • Assisting with identification tracking and resolution of quality issues and CARs.
  • Verifying rectification and rework closure including Work Completion Certificate (WCC) evidence.
  • Preparing clear evidence-based inspection and audit reports.
  • Supervising and supporting QA Officers during inspections and reporting.
  • Maintaining QA records and acceptance artefacts in line with established processes.
  • Escalating emerging quality risks to the QA Manager.
  • Contributing to continuous improvement of QA practices and documentation.
  • Acting as delegate for the QA Manager for defined activities when authorised.
  • Supporting reporting on QA outcomes and performance.

As the ideal candidate you will bring:

Mandatory

  • Technical or trade qualification (mechanical electrical electronic or systems discipline preferred).
  • Experience performing QA inspection or technical assessments in industrial or operational environments.
  • Ability to conduct objective evidence-based inspections and reporting.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings specifications and acceptance criteria.
  • Willingness and ability to work on-site and travel as required.
  • Minimum AGSVA NV1 Security Clearance Australian citizenship and ITAR compliance required to be eligible.

Desirable

  • Experience in Defence or complex systems QA environments.
  • Experience with training systems or support equipment (S&TE).
  • Auditor certification (JAS-ANZ IRCA RABQSA or Defence-recognised equivalent).
  • Experience supporting or deputising for a senior QA role.
  • Familiarity with Defence ERP and AIMS systems.
