Job Summary

MacKillops Out of Home Care (OOHC) programs provide residential care home based care lead tenant and case management support for young people with high and complex needs as well as a therapeutically oriented program for young people in protective placements.

Our Residential Services offers accommodation and support to children and young people who are referred through the Child Protection system. At MacKillop Family Services we believe every young person deserves a safe supportive and nurturing place to call home.


ABOUT THE ROLE:

As an Assistant House Supervisor youll play a key role in leading a team of Residential Care Workers to provide safe nurturing and therapeutic care for young people in our Out of Home Care (OOHC) program. Youll support the day-to-day operations of the home helping create an environment where young people feel valued supported and empowered to thrive.

Reporting to the Residential Care Coordinator this is a rewarding opportunity to combine hands-on leadership with meaningful work that helps young people build resilience independence and a sense of belonging.

We are currently recruiting 1x Full-time opportunity based in Preston VIC within our Northern Residential Care Program. The position reports to the Northern Residential Coordinator.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reporting to the Residential Coordinator your duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Inspire & Support Your Team - Provide leadership coaching and supervision to build a high-performing therapeutic care team.
  • Strengthen Connections - Foster meaningful relationships with families communities and key stakeholders to support each young persons journey.
  • Drive Quality & Compliance - Ensure care plans reporting policies budgets and operational requirements are effectively managed.
  • Promote Culture Safety & Growth - Create an inclusive culturally safe environment while supporting continuous improvement workplace safety and best-practice care.


KEY SELECTION CRITERIA:

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Relevant Bachelor Degree with experience including four (4) additional mandatory competencies (top up units); or Relevant Diploma with substantial experience including four (4) additional mandatory competencies (top up units).
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise lead and support a team of residential care workers.
  • Proven skills and experience in development of behavioural management programs for children and adolescents with challenging behaviours.
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of the residential care field particularly within a therapeutic environment.
  • Ability to participate collaboratively and constructively within teams of peers staff and other stakeholders as well as initiative and effective personal judgement when working alone.

You must have a:

  • Valid and current Drivers Licence.
  • Valid and current Working with Children Card.
  • Valid and current NDIS Worker Check (for NDIS risk assessed roles).
  • Satisfactory criminal history check conducted by MacKillop Family Services.
  • Successful completion of Brief & Intermediate MARAM training or a willingness to complete.
