Reporting directly to the Financial Accountant you will play a pivotal role in supporting our day-to-day financial functions ensuring accuracy and contributing to the overall success of the organisation.

This is a full time on-site position.

The Role
As Assistant Accountant you will provide essential operational support maintain accurate transactional records and assist with financial reporting and reconciliations. This is a diverse role offering a mix of routine tasks and ad-hoc projects allowing you to utilise your initiative and grow your accounting career.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation of monthly quarterly and annual financial statements reports and board packages.

  • Analysis & Forecasting: Monitor and analyse financial data track variances (with a focus on operating and personnel costs) and gather data for forecasts.

  • Month-End & Reconciliations: Support month-end processes including journal preparation transactional reviews and general ledger reconciliations.

  • Core Accounting: Perform day-to-day accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) duties.

  • Payroll Support: Process payroll transactions and maintain compliant payroll records.

  • Audit & Compliance: Assist with audit preparation contribute documentation and ensure day-to-day transactional accounting complies with Australian standards and industry guidelines.

  • Stakeholder Management: Maintain professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders to efficiently resolve financial or invoicing queries.

What We Are Looking For
To be successful in this role you will be a collaborative team player who can also work autonomously with excellent judgment and a sharp eye for detail.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or a related field.

  • Strong proven experience in an accounting or accounts officer role.

  • Solid knowledge of Australian tax laws.

  • Proficiency with accounting software preferably Netsuite and Employment Hero.

  • Previous experience within the Aged Care sector is highly advantageous.
