About the role:

The Assistant Accountant Research prepares analyses and initiates approval of monthly annual and end of project research acquittals including review with Researchers. This position also provides support to Researchers for financial data including budget costings and assists in the preparation of financial and non-financial information to assist in external reporting and Audit requests.

As an Assistant Accountant Research you will:

  • Accurately maintain research project data across systems
  • Assist with budgeting forecasting month-end and year-end processes financial reporting and variance analysis
  • Ensure financial transactions comply with funding agreements grant conditions and University policies
  • Build strong relationships with diverse stakeholders provide timely advice guidance and support with regards to grant obligations project milestones and reporting requirements.
  • Support audit activities and investigations
  • Promotes awareness and effective use of research finance systems tools and policies to deliver accurate compliant and high-quality financial outcomes.

To be successful youll have:

  • Degree in accounting finance or similar with subsequent relevant experience; or extensive experience and specialist knowledge; or equivalent combination of experience and/or education/training
  • Strong knowledge of general ledger basic accounting principles and cash management
  • Experience providing professional advice and delivering outcomes
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capability
  • Ability to manage competing priorities
