Duration: Approx. 6 months with potential to extend
Pay rate: $32.00 - $45.00 per hour plus 12% super
Security requirements: Must be an Australian citizen or Permanent Resident at time of application
Overview:
An exciting opportunity is available for experienced and customer-focused professionals to join a fast-paced government environment within a revenue and compliance team based in Canberra.
This role sits within a frontline operational area responsible for administering taxation concessions rebates and community assistance programs. The successful candidate will contribute to delivering high-quality customer service while supporting compliance administration and revenue management activities.
Responsibilities:
- Respond to high volumes of customer enquiries via phone and written communication
- Perform administrative duties including data entry scanning indexing and database searches
- Process applications forms and submissions accurately and efficiently
- Assist with investigations and analysis relating to taxpayer assessments
- Support compliance activities and debt recovery processes
- Maintain accurate account and customer information
- Contribute to team targets operational outcomes and continuous improvement initiatives
- Participate in training peer reviews and team-based activities
- Provide professional customer service while adhering to legislative and policy requirements
- Undertake additional duties as required within the team environment
Experience/requirements:
- Previous experience in administration contact centre or customer service environments
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- High attention to detail with accurate data entry and processing capability
- Ability to manage workloads and meet deadlines with limited supervision
- Sound analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to interpret and apply policies procedures or legislative frameworks
- Strong teamwork skills and a professional approach to stakeholder engagement
- Experience working in fast-paced or high-volume environments will be highly regarded
- Government experience is desirable but not essential
