Our Aged Care Advocacy Services team works alongside older people their representatives and service providers to ensure rights are upheld concerns are addressed and people are supported to navigate complex aged care systems with confidence.
About the Opportunity
Were seeking an Aged Care Advocate to provide information education support and representation to older people accessing or seeking aged care services.
This role will be based in Rockhampton and will also service Gladstone Biloela the Gemfields and surrounding communities. Regular travel across the region is required including occasional overnight trips.
Youll support individuals to understand their rights raise concerns and achieve fair outcomes working with clients families and providers to navigate the aged care system.
In this role you will:
- Deliver highquality advocacy to support clients in resolving issues
- Help clients understand their rights and navigate aged care services
- Advocate at individual and systemic levels to achieve fair outcomes
- Facilitate education sessions and build stakeholder relationships
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to quality and compliance
About you
Youre a confident and valuesdriven professional who is passionate about social justice and empowering older people to have their voices heard. You thrive in complex environments build strong relationships and are comfortable advocating for individuals in sensitive situations.
You will bring:
- Qualifications in human services social work behavioural science community services and/or equivalent experience.
- Experience supporting or advocating for older people or vulnerable groups.
- Knowledge of aged care services legislation and rightsbased frameworks (or the ability to quickly develop this knowledge).
- Strong communication negotiation and interpersonal skills including the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders.
- Sound judgement problemsolving capability and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Strong administrative and computer skills including experience with client management systems.
Essential requirements
- Valid Australian Drivers licence.
- Current (less than three (3) years old) National Criminal History Certificate.
