Job Summary
About the Position
TheAdvisor/Senior Advisor is a key member of the Rules team within theRegistered Organisations Services Branch at the Fair WorkCommission. Reporting to the Assistant Director the successfulcandidate will work alongside other members of the Rules team toprovide advice and assistance to a range of internal and externalstakeholders such as Commission Members the General Manager theBranchs Executive Director and Director registered organisationsand practitioners.
TheAdvisor/Senior Advisor will utilise their strong research skillsand ability to interpret and apply complex legislation to reviewmatters regarding the rules that govern a registered will process varied matters in a timely manner maintaining aworking knowledge of the relevant legislation. They will be aproactive team member and support the development of more juniorteam members contributing to evaluation and improvement ofprocesses and will have the opportunity to work across many of thefunctions of the Branch.
Duties
- Support the Assistant Director Director Executive Director and other team members providing accurate and timely advice and assistance to internal and external clients in relation to registered organisation matters predominantly regarding rules and elections of regulated organisations.
- Review the process and content of proposed alterations to rules and elections of registered organisations and draft decisions concerning legal questions associated with the facts and interpretation of rules. Assess and process matters that are lodged with the Commission by registered organisations across a range of statutory functions.
- Provide advice and assistance to registered organisations in understanding and meeting all their regulatory obligations. Assist the Branch in preparing and providing written materials subject matter expertise and other information regarding legislative obligations in support of the branchs educational push towards proactive compliance.
- Assist with research on matters relating to registered organisations including interpreting and applying legislation.
- Provide administrative support including the drafting of documents such as briefing notes memoranda and correspondence and using record management filing and reporting systems.
- Develop and maintain working relationships with a range of key internal and external stakeholders.
- Other duties as directed by the Delegate/Executive Director the Assistant Directorand/or theDirector.
Additional duties at theAPS6 classification
- Provide support and leadership to members of the Rules team.
- Interpret statistical reports on the teams performance in relation to timeliness and quality measurements relating to rules and assist in implementing reforms to improve timeliness and/or quality.
