Job Summary
GEGAC Dala Yooro Kindergarten isseeking a passionate and dedicated Aboriginal Language Educator to join our warmculturally enthusiastic environment on a part-time basis.
This is a unique opportunity to playa meaningful role in strengthening cultural identity language revival andconnection to Country for our children. You will support our Boorais learningjourney by embedding Aboriginal language into everyday experiencesstorytelling song and play becoming an important part to their culturalstory.

GEGAC is an AboriginalCommunity Controlled Organisation based in Bairnsdale Victoria. Consisting ofabout 200 staff GEGAC is a Not-for-Profit organisation that delivers holisticservices in the areas of Primary Health Social Services Elders &Disability and Early Childhood Education.
GEGAC advocates for theself-determination of the Aboriginal community by prioritising services thatenhance social emotional and spiritual wellbeing with culture at the heartof everything we do.
Position Purpose
The Aboriginal LanguageEducator is primarily responsible for supporting the Dala Yooro funded kinderprograms in the delivery of the Early Childhood Language program.
The Language Educator mustdemonstrate understanding of Local Aboriginal Culture and heritage in relationto the development of curriculum for the early years children.
The Language Educator isexpected to provide a high level of support responding to the development anddelivery of the language program and will demonstrate an understanding of theland of our GunaiKunai people and Aboriginal culture.
Key Selection Criteria
Demonstrated understanding of andcommitment to Aboriginal culture with the ability to liaise with and supportthe local community.
Demonstrated capability to meet the keyresponsibilities and key activities of this position.
Excellent interpersonal skills andproven ability to relate to Aboriginal Families and young children.
Ability and experience in coachingmentoring and supporting families with young children.
Qualifications and RegistrationsRequirement (Essential or Desirable).
Valid Victorian drivers licence ESSENTIAL
Minimum Certificate III Early Childhood Educationand Care qualification ESSENTIAL
Recognised Traditional Owner to teachlanguage ESSENTIAL
A working knowledge of computers DESIRABLE
A satisfactory Working with ChildrenCheck and Fit2Work Police Check ESSENTIAL
A person of Aboriginal and or Torres Strait Islanderbackground DESIRABLE
Proof of COVID-19 vaccinated to align with GEGACrequirements ESSENTIAL
