Reports to: Coordinator FinanceWhere Finance Meets Community on the Outback CoastThe Accounts Payable Officer is responsible for the accurate timely and compliant processing of creditor payments while also contributing to a high standard of internal and external customer service. The role supports strong financial governance by ensuring all payments are appropriately authorised recorded and reported in accordance with legislative requirements internal controls and Shire policies and by actively participating in customer service delivery including shared call flow Youll DoAs our Payable Accounts Officer you will:Demonstrate successful leadership through the application of the Shires core values by promoting a work culture of sustainability quality improvement efficiency and excellent customer service that corresponds to our Code of Conduct and Customer Service Charter.A commitment to a safe work environment and WHS legislation policy and supplier invoices accurately and within required timeframes including matching invoices to purchase orders and confirming appropriate expenditure to the correct general ledger accounts cost centres and projects and prepare creditor payment runs for review and approval. Maintain accurate creditor records including ABN and banking details monitor invoice queues and follow up outstanding transactions comply with the Local Government Act 1995 (WA) Local Government (Financial Management) Regulations 1996 (WA) and relevant Shire financial management procurement and delegation policies. Maintain appropriate audit trails and supporting documentation identify duplicate incorrect or non-compliant invoices and support separation of duties and internal financial regular creditor reconciliations investigate discrepancies and assist with month-end processes financial reporting and audit schedules. Provide timely professional and courteous customer service to staff suppliers and other internal and external stakeholders including responding to payment and account in the Shires shared customer service call flow respond to inbound calls and direct enquiries appropriately. Work collaboratively with suppliers and internal departments to resolve discrepancies and support correct procurement receipting and invoicing and support improvements to accounts payable systems and processes including automation and other efficiencies while contributing to a Finance team culture of accountability compliance and continuous improvement. About YouYoull bring:Demonstrated experience in accounts payable finance administration or similar role. Highly developed ability to uphold a values-based approach in the understanding of invoice processing reconciliations and creditor management. Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy. Ability to manage competing priorities and meet -developed communication and interpersonal in Microsoft Office particularly Excel. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise working within Local Government in Western Australia. Familiarity with financial systems such as of procurement and purchasing processes.
