1 Senior Business Analyst

The Senior Business Analyst will be accountable under broad direction to perform complex work that provides detailed technical and professional business analysis system analysis and design changes that align with the vision and strategic direction of the Agency. They will be engaged at an Executive Level 1 (EL1) equivalent level. This is the level expected of senior technical specialists with the Australian Public Service.

The Senior Business Analyst will exercise a considerable degree of independence and perform a leadership role working closely with stakeholders across the Agency to gain an in-depth understanding of business processes technical infrastructure technical services strategic roadmap and in the context in which the Agency operates.

The Senior Business Analyst will have considerable internal and external stakeholder interaction and will act as the conduit between the business units internal stakeholders that will include the IT business management solutions development and solutions implementation functional teams within the Agency and with relevant stakeholders from the Health sector.

The key duties and responsibilities of the Senior Business Analyst are as provided below followed by the mandatory requirements for the position.

Leadership and Accountability

• Provide expertise across a broad range of digital health standards activities potentially relating to the work of different program areas.
  
• Take responsibility for the achievements of own and team outcomes monitor progress and follow through to deliver quality outcomes.
  
• Recommend strategic directions for area of responsibility and consider wider agency implications when making decisions.
  
• Consider and effectively manage competing priorities and strategic directions when achieving team planning and project outcomes in line with agency goals and objectives.
  
• Provide a significant contribution to innovation and business improvement strategies.
  
• Engage with risk including the conduct of risk assessment and risk management activities for area of responsibility.
  
• Accountable for the achievement of own and team outcomes monitoring progress and following through to ensure the delivery of quality outcomes including managing competing priorities to develop and complete the following business analytical activities:
  • Requirements gathering from a range of internal and external stakeholders focusing on business needs and how multiple stakeholder needs can be addressed (e.g. consumers healthcare providers government).
    
  • Impact assessment of proposals on current activities.
    
  • Coordination of inputs on draft documents and analysis of feedback.
    
  • Prioritisation of initiatives within strategic documents.
    
  • Communication of complex policy ideas and articulating key points in diagrams/graphics etc.
    
  • Working across the business to identify and understand how other projects impact the work of the team (overlap contribution shared direction).

Mandatory Requirements

Citizenship: Australian Citizenship

Character check: Ability to obtain and maintain national police check

Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain a Baseline security clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a higher clearance if required by the Agency.
