Job Purpose
The IT Manager is responsible for the maintenance and development of our IT infrastructure and all associated contractual and procurement obligations as well as managing the IT Assistant.
The individual needs to be a selfmotivated and driven technology expert with the ability to both meet and manage the everyday needs of the business and IT Team as well as having the acumen to prescribe and deliver valued improvements to the business.
Principal accountabilities/skills
The ideal candidate will have the following key skills and ability to manage these accountabilities or similar experience they believe can be transposed through additional training:
Azure: Proficiency in Azure infrastructure management including but not limited to Virtual Desktops Azure AD and other Azure services.
Windows 11 MultiUser VM: The ability to set up configure and manage a Windows 11 multiuser VM environment.
Microsoft 365: Handson experience with the M365 suite especially concerning deployment user management and licensing.
Active Directory Management: Knowledge in setting up maintaining and troubleshooting Active Directory environments especially those integrated with Azure AD and using AzureAD Connect.
Network & VPN Management: Proficiency in setting up managing and troubleshooting network solutions including sitetosite VPN configurations. Familiarity with Sophos hardware firewall solutions is beneficial.
Backup & Recovery: Experience with Azure Recovery Services Vault and formulating backup and recovery strategies for both VMs and data.
File Server Management: Skills in deploying configuring and maintaining file servers especially in hybrid environments that combine cloud and local storage solutions.
Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI): Experience in setting up and managing VDI solutions particularly Azure Virtual Desktop.
Migration & Deployment: Experience in migrating data and systems especially with planning and executing live migration tasks out of hours.
Desirable skills above these would include:
Open GI: Familiarity with the Open GI Core Server Open Document Server Info Centre Plus and other
related Open GI components.
OneDrive for Business: Understanding of how to integrate and utilize OneDrive for Business in VDI and
other environments.
Cybersecurity: Awareness of best practices in securing cloud environments and knowledge in configuring
and maintaining firewall solutions.
Project Management: Skills in leading IT projects from conception to completion ensuring all stakeholders
are updated and involved.
Disaster Recovery Planning: Experience in formulating IT disaster recovery plans and ensuring business
continuity in the face of unforeseen challenges.
Education Qualifications Knowledge Skills and Experience
Business Awareness: The ability to understand and manage IT vendor billing and budgeting to ensure costeffective service utilization.
Communication: Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to nontechnical stakeholders and collaborate with 3rd party IT partnerships on a level playing field.
Customer Focus: Experience in managing relationships and contracts with IT vendors and solution providers. Ability to provide training and support to endusers ensuring they can effectively use deployed IT solutions.
Drive & Resilience: Selfmotivated selfstarter who will work well under pressure.
Influence & Negotiation: A friendly and understanding approach to others the ability to work appropriately with customers and colleagues.
