Job Summary:
Our client who is in the fire protection and detection industry is seeking a Technical Assistant to join their team. The Technical Assistant will report directly to the Technical Manager and will support technical operations related to fire detection and fire prevention systems. This role involves assisting with site surveys system design support installations inspections and the preparation of technical reports and documentation. The ideal candidate is technically sound detail-oriented computer-literate and capable of working both independently and as part of a technical team.
Responsibilities:
Report directly to the Technical Manager and provide technical support across assigned fire protection and detection projects.
Assist in the preparation compilation and presentation of technical reports related to fire detection fire alarm and fire suppression systems.
Conduct building and site surveys to assess requirements for new installations upgrades and compliance with fire safety standards.
Support technical planning by understanding building layouts system positioning drawings and regulatory requirements.
Assist engineers during installation testing inspection and maintenance of fire detection and fire prevention systems.
Demonstrate practical understanding of electrical and mechanical components of fire systems including alarms detectors panels piping and suppression equipment.
Maintain accurate technical records drawings inspection reports and system documentation.
Use computer software and technical tools to prepare reports schedules and system documentation.
Coordinate with internal technical teams under the guidance of the Technical Manager to ensure project timelines and technical standards are met.
Ensure adherence to safety standards technical specifications and applicable industry regulations at all times.
Requirements
Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering Mechanical Engineering Fire Engineering or a related technical field.
Previous experience working with fire detection and fire protection systems is required.
Strong understanding of both electrical and mechanical components of fire systems.
Ability to conduct technical site surveys and interpret building layouts and system requirements.
Excellent computer skills with the ability to prepare present and demonstrate technical reports.
Strong analytical problem-solving and technical documentation skills.
Good communication skills with the ability to clearly explain technical concepts.
Well organized detail-oriented and able to manage multiple technical tasks simultaneously.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a technical team environment.
Proficiency in MS Office and other relevant technical or reporting software.
