Job Purpose:
The Deputy General Manager (DGM) is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the company ensuring alignment with Company s strategic goals. The DGM acts as a key advisor to the CEO providing input on business decisions and helping to shape the company s future direction. In the absence of the General Manager (GM) the DGM will assume full responsibilities of the GM ensuring continuity of leadership and decision-making. This includes overseeing operations planning project management and ensuring seamless coordination among various departments.
Key Responsibilities:
Departmental Oversight and Coordination:
Operations Management:
- Supervise the Operations Department ensuring the effective execution of civil and infrastructure projects including oil & gas pipeline engineering.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for ongoing projects to ensure they meet time budget and quality targets.
- Oversee critical operational functions such as design QA/QC HSE and project management.
Planning & Project Management:
- Ensure the Planning & Project Management department delivers effective project schedules resource allocation and cost control.
- Ensure optimal client relationships and customer satisfaction are maintained throughout project lifecycles.
- Oversee the development and implementation of project management methodologies to enhance project efficiency
Cross-Departmental Coordination:
- Facilitate collaboration between departments ensuring consistent communication and integration of work processes.
- Ensure that operations and planning activities are aligned with company goals and client expectations.
Strategic Advisory and Leadership:
Support the CEO:
- Act as a key advisor to the CEO offering insights into operational performance resource allocation and market opportunities.
- Assist in the development and execution of the company s strategic plan.
- Represent the CEO and make executive decisions in their absence.
Leadership Across Departments:
- Provide leadership and mentorship to department managers fostering a culture of accountability innovation and continuous improvement.
- Ensure that department heads are empowered to make decisions that align with the company s values and objectives.
General Manager Duties (In Absence of GM):
Operational Decision-Making:
- Lead the day-to-day operations of the company ensuring smooth execution of all projects and business activities.
- Make high-level decisions regarding resource allocation project timelines and financial management.
- Oversee the performance of the senior management team ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
Financial Oversight:
- Oversee the company s financial performance ensuring adherence to budgets and financial plans.
- Collaborate with the Finance & HR Manager to ensure financial transparency and prudent financial management.
Reporting:
- Provide regular reports to the CEO on operational performance project milestones and financial health.
- Prepare detailed reports for the Board of Directors as necessary particularly in the absence of the GM.
Safety and Quality Assurance:
- Collaborate with HSE and QA/QC teams to ensure that the highest standards of safety and quality are met on all projects.
Requirements
Education:
- Bachelor s degree in Civil Engineering Mechanical Engineering or a related field. Master s degree in Business Administration (MBA) or Engineering Management is a plus.
Experience:
- 10 years of experience in senior management roles within the infrastructure civil engineering or oil & gas sectors.
- Extensive experience in project management operations management and financial oversight.
- Prior experience in managing cross-functional teams and departments.
Skills:
- Exceptional decision-making leadership and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage relationships with clients partners and internal teams.
- Proficiency in project management software and tools (e.g. Primavera MS Project).
- Financial acumen and experience in budgeting forecasting and financial analysis.
