Fabrication Supervisor
Summary: Exempt position responsible for the on time manufacture of stainless steel washroom accessory components meeting predetermined labour cost parameters and company standards for safety and quality. Additionally to improve productivity and effect cost reductions in the manufacturing of products while maintaining high standards of safety and quality. In accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws directly supervises 15 20 employees in the Fabrication Department
Administer company rules and procedures within the department.
Monitor effectiveness of systems and procedures within the department.
Assure that employees are properly trained in safe and efficient performance of their assigned
duties.
Monitor work in process and supplies inventories on time status of projects and schedules
accuracy of work and proper adherence to procedures.
Control departmental expense spending within preapproved budget.
Assure timely and accurate information is provided regarding job completion labour reporting
engineering change implementation and special customer requirements.
Assure that production schedules are met; providing advance information regarding needs to make
changes in provided capacity.
Assure equipment assigned to the department is properly and safely maintained and utilized
including punch presses brake presses shears lift and hand trucks fixtures hand tools and
computer/office equipment.
Accurately maintain a preventative maintenance schedule for all equipment.
Assure that commitments made by department are routinely met.
Review production procedures and flow and revise manufacturing processes as necessary to bring
about cost reductions and quality improvements.
Assure that manufacturing process changes are properly documented and Routers are updated.
Generate prototype production samples to meet design engineering specifications.
Research and resolve all quality issues pertaining to the Fabrication Department and effectively
implement necessary changes as required.
Confer with vendors to review tooling product specifications and arrange for purchase of certain
equipment materials or parts and evaluates products according to specifications and quality
standards. Develop good working relationship and procedures with tooling vendors resulting in
on time deliveries and good service.
Establish and maintain relationships with outside sources to provide new tooling as required.
Negotiate service contracts with outside vendors for tooling maintenance upkeep and new tool
design.
Evaluate select and prepare recommendations for capital equipment purchases within the
Fabrication Department.
Support product relocations as required.
Minimize department scrap and waste
Maximize material yield
Assists with the quotation for special models as needed.
Manage special projects as assigned including adherence to preapproved budget and timetables
Develop and maintain visual manufacturing procedures
Able to use indented BOM on CSI to verify current cost and develop new item cost
Able to complete quote on CSI using the items and item submission form
Investigate report & correct all issues resulting from field complaint & corrective action reports
Perform other duties as assigned.
