Job Summary
- Prepare and process monthly payroll for academic administrative and support staff.
- Capture and update employee payroll information including appointments promotions transfers allowances and terminations.
- Verify payroll input data before processing.
- Ensure timely payment of salaries wages allowances and benefits.
- Calculate and process PAYE in accordance with Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) requirements.
- Process NSSA contributions and ensure timely remittance.
- Administer pension contributions and medical aid deductions.
- Ensure compliance with labour legislation and government regulations affecting payroll administration.
- Maintain accurate payroll records and employee files.
- Ensure confidentiality and security of employee payroll information.
- Supervise Payroll Clerks and Accounting Assistants within the payroll section.
- Archive payroll documentation according to university policies and statutory requirements.
- Provide guidance and training on payroll procedures and systems.
- Liaising and coordinating with Academic Registry.
- Managing student selection admission and registration.
- Maintaining student and staff records.
- Producing degree and course lists as well as teaching and examination timetables for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
- Managing scholarship matters.
- Assisting in the design of new degree structures amendments to degree regulations and preparation of necessary documentation and monitoring implementation.
- Monitoring students progress and maintaining and presenting statistical information on students and staff.
- Providing student counselling.
- Organising training workshops and seminars.
- Assisting with graduation ceremonies.
- Managing the recruitment of academic technical and other staff for the School and its Departments.
- Preparing draft advertisements and processing job applications.
- Servicing Academic Appointment Boards Selection Boards Examiners Boards and other Institute Committees.
- Handling general personnel matters on promotions resignations and leave.
- Conducting induction programmes for new staff.
- Supervising junior staff.
- Compiling relevant reports.
- Carrying out any other duties assigned by management from time to time.
Requirements
- At least 5 O Level passes including English Language and Mathematics or Accounts.
- A HEXCO National Diploma/Part B CIS/ACCA Stage 2/CIMA Level 2 or equivalent.
- At least two years relevant post-qualification experience.
- A Social Science degree from a recognised university.
- At least four (4) years relevant post-qualification experience preferably in a university environment.
- A Masters degree would be an added advantage.
- Knowledge of academic institutions procedural cycles connected to Departments Schools Admissions Examinations and Centres of Excellence.
- Ability to provide administrative oversight to the entire School.
- High level of computer literacy.
- Excellent report-writing skills.
Required Skills:
Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related field Proven experience as a Software Engineer or similar role Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Java C or Python Experience with software development tools and methodologies Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills Good communication and teamwork abilities
