Job Summary

-Design develop test deploy and maintain software applications to support the Departments teaching research and administrative functions.

-Develop web-based and mobile applications for academic research and community engagement projects.

-Collaborate with academic staff and students on software development innovation and research projects.

-Provide technical guidance and mentorship to students undertaking software development projects.

-Support lecturers and researchers by developing software solutions prototypes and research applications.

-Maintain and enhance existing departmental software systems and websites.

-Develop and integrate databases APIs and cloud-based solutions.

-Assist in the development and management of e-learning platforms and other digital learning tools.

-Ensure software quality through testing debugging documentation and version control.

-Implement software security best practices and maintain secure applications.

-Participate in departmental consultancy innovation and software commercialization initiatives.

-Keep abreast of emerging software development technologies frameworks and industry best practices.

-Prepare technical documentation user manuals and system documentation.

-Provide technical support and user training for developed applications.

Requirements

At least one (1) year of relevant post qualification working experience would be an added advantage.

Technical Skills and Experience

-Proficiency in programming languages such as Java Python C# JavaScript PHP C or similar.

-Experience with web and mobile application development.

-Knowledge of software development methodologies (Agile Scrum DevOps).

-Experience with databases such as MySQL PostgreSQL SQL Server or MongoDB.

-Familiarity with version control systems such as Git.

-Experience with cloud platforms and containerization technologies.

-Knowledge of software testing debugging and quality assurance practise.
