Job Summary
Our client a leading food processing and cold chain organisation is seeking an experienced Ammonia Refrigeration Technician to join their technical team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe operation maintenance and repair of industrial ammonia refrigeration systems that are critical to production and cold storage operations.

Main Responsibilities:
- Operate monitor and maintain ammonia refrigeration systems within an industrial cold storage environment.
- Ensure optimal performance of compressors condensers evaporators valves and related refrigeration plant equipment.
- Conduct routine inspections preventative maintenance and servicing of refrigeration systems.
- Identify troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical faults in refrigeration equipment.
- Monitor system pressures temperatures and ammonia levels to ensure safe and efficient operation.
- Respond promptly to system alarms leaks and emergencies to minimise downtime and production disruption.
- Maintain strict compliance with occupational health safety and environmental regulations related to ammonia handling.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve energy efficiency and plant reliability.
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs reports and equipment performance records.
Key Skills:
- Strong knowledge of ammonia refrigeration systems and industrial cooling processes.
- Mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills.
- Understanding of thermodynamics and refrigeration cycles.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings schematics and control systems.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving ability.
- High safety awareness especially in handling hazardous substances.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced industrial environment.
Qualifications:
- Trade qualification in Refrigeration & Air Conditioning or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
- Proven experience working with ammonia refrigeration systems in an industrial setting.
- Experience in food processing cold storage or FMCG environments is advantageous.
- Knowledge of occupational health and safety standards related to ammonia systems.
- Relevant refrigeration handling or plant operation certification will be an added advantage.
